FROM FLAT TO FORM _Project 002
Project 002
In this occasion I decided to change the project and try to replicate the Aquatic Center in London by Zaha Hadid. The roof that consists in a double-curvature geometry, was the first thing that passed through my mind after see the example in class.
I started making the geometry of the plan with circles. This helped me to maintain the proportions in such organic and symmetric project. I did 3 circles and 3 arcs tangent to them.
Then I designed two principals axis for the plan and took the end points to create others points with the same x and y coordinates and different z. Then I used these points to make a plane of reference for my new sketches.
In the sketches I designed the different splines that were my references lines for the curves. I created length parameters to make easy the modification of the project and have diverse inputs.
I wanted to have control of the main points of the curves to have the ability to unroll the surface with only a few clicks.
At the end I started to do some circles and close splines. Then I extruded them and intersected them with my original surface. At this point it was not similar at all to the Aquatic Center but I did it for understand the "output features" and the "profile features" .
Finally I started to change the parameters to see how they affect the model and to corroborate that it works.
Next I would like to try with something bigger as the Rolex Center of SANAA.
