HOW DO SIMULATIONS KNOW?
Reading Comment
by Yanni A. Loukissas
Nowadays simulations takes a very important place in our field. It is practically impossible not to have one in every building ( structural project, fire safety systems..) It is also a way to exchange information with other professional, to crate more complex project and actually see ho they going to be in the reality.
However, it is true that today all the new generations are having this faith to technologies and experiences in the field are putting in a side. I agree with Loukissas when says that "knowledge gained through simulation is supplemental knowledge... not a replacement for a lifetime of onsite experience". The necessity to understand the basic is something that I confirm with every reading. It is not enough to know how to work with technologies we also need common sense and a expertise in the field to take full advantage of these tools. We need to be able to see oddness if the program is failing or the simulation is not coherent even more with all the debates that are around what is a good computer simulation and all the different approach that we are able to do. We need also the ability to read them and make link between them.
I think that the computer simulation is one expertise which is always helping to challenge and push the boundaries of architecture and for sure it will continue improving in the following years.
